Last visit to visit my awesome in-laws' house resulted in the distribution of a 4 month reading schedule. The schedule has boxes to check off after each family reads the allotted amount each day.
Part of the cool-ness of the project is that all of the LeBlanc offspring will be on the same part of the Book of Mormon (p.s. hereafter Book of Mormon will be abbreviated as BOM) at the same time! So maybe we will all have something in common to talk about at extended family dinners...
I was hesitant about the challenge at first because my dirty little secret is that, well... I don't really enjoy reading the BOM. I have a hard time understanding the antiquated language, and the 4 column tiny print gives me a headache after maybe two pages. So, until now I've just avoided the canonized stuff outside of church, if at all possible. Of the (hard to understand) ancient scripture, the New Testament is my "favorite" and if I don't end up reading that I usually just listen to or read a talk from the Ensign during personal gospel study.
However, I have a plan to help me to finish the challenge this year and it is as follows:

2)A solution to the 4 columns and tiny print
The blog is to force me to make sense of the antiquated language and to motivate me to keep reading. After I finish each allotted reading I will summarize the chapter(s) on this blog.
As for the columns and print, I have amazon.com to thank for an alternative. I found a "Reader's Edition" of the Book of Mormon and that is what I will use to complete the challenge. The text is all the same in the Reader's Edition and in the normal BOM but the text is organized in paragraphs, like a novel, and there are no chapter summaries. The print is normal sized and there pages are nice and thick.
